Preschool for All (PFA) is an early learning program that focuses on providing children with a quality education to help them succeed in school. The program employs qualified staff and utilizes a proven curriculum, while also promoting parent involvement to ensure that children receive the best care possible.
In Illinois, schools can apply for grants from the State Board of Education to operate PFA. The program is usually half-day and follows the school district’s calendar. Families that require child care outside of PFA hours are responsible for their children’s care during those times.
Yes! PFA supports children aged 3 to 5 years old in developing skills essential for success in school and later in life.
The PFA program is available free of charge to families who meet the eligibility criteria.
Families must meet the following requirements:
- Families must be Illinois residents.
- Priority is given to families in Lake Bluff and Lake Forest and those with barriers to accessing an early learning program.
- Children must be at least three (3) years old and not eligible for Kindergarten.
- Children may not be currently enrolled in PFA or Preschool for All Expansion.
The following documents are required before children can start attending PFA.
